1. What’s the meaning of the animation of “symbols” or “pulsing background”?
These animations indicate that the AI model is working behind the scenes to generate responses or connections. The app needs some time to process your request, and these animations let you know the AI is actively working.
2. After tapping the lightbulb icon, why doesn’t the topic’s name change?
The AI model generates the most descriptive name for the topic based on its understanding. If the suggested name is the same as the existing name, there won’t be any visible change. This ensures the topic name remains accurate and relevant.
3. Why are connections not generated or refreshed after tapping “Refresh Connections” and the animation stops?
This issue may occur due to several reasons: a temporary internet connection interruption, the response from OpenAI not received in a timely manner, or insufficient data provided for the AI to generate meaningful connections.
Suggested Actions:
a. Check your internet connection and ensure it is stable.
b. Check your OpenAI account and ensure there is enough credit.
c. Try again after a moment.
4. What are the OpenAI account requirements for using this app? (For the DotThink app)
The OpenAI account must have access to GPT-4o with an RPM (requests per minute) limit of at least 30. This requires a paid account (Tier 1 or higher) under OpenAI’s current pricing model.
5. Can I recover an exploration after it’s deleted?
No, once an exploration or a connection within an exploration is deleted, it cannot be recovered or undeleted.
a. If an exploration is deleted, all its associated connections will also be permanently removed.
b. If a connection is deleted, only that specific connection and related insights will be removed, while the rest of the exploration will remain intact.
Please note: Deleting an exploration happens immediately without a confirmation dialog. Ensure you want to delete a topic before taking this action, as it is irreversible.
6. How do I delete my data?
To completely delete your data from both the app and iCloud, follow these two steps:
a. Delete explorations on each device: Open the app on each of your devices and use the in-app option to delete all explorations. Ensure you have a stable internet connection and allow time for iCloud to sync the deletions.
b. Delete iCloud data from one device: After deleting your data from all devices, go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Storage > [The App] on any one of your devices, and tap “Delete Data From iCloud.” This will permanently remove all app-related data from your iCloud account.
To delete your AI credentials stored on the device, go to Settings > AI Credentials > Remove within the app on each device.
